1 Who We Are
Swaram ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-powered front-office platform for Indian service businesses, delivered primarily through WhatsApp Business API. Our platform helps businesses manage customer inquiries, schedule appointments, and follow up on leads using conversational AI.
This Privacy Policy applies to all end users who interact with any business that has deployed the Swaram platform — including conversations via WhatsApp, web chat, or any other channel Swaram supports.

2 Data We Collect
When you interact with a Swaram-powered assistant, we collect the following information:
- Phone number — to identify you and route your conversation
- Display name — as provided by WhatsApp or entered by you
- Message content — the text, voice notes, or media you send in conversation
- Conversation metadata — timestamps, message IDs, delivery status
- Qualification data — business-relevant details you share (e.g., location, property type, budget range) used to match you with the right service
- Consent record — timestamp and method of your data consent
We do not collect payment card details, Aadhaar numbers, or any government-issued identification through this platform.
3 Why We Collect It
All data collected is used exclusively for:
- Providing AI-assisted responses to your inquiries
- Helping the business you contacted understand your requirements
- Scheduling appointments, site surveys, or follow-up calls on your behalf
- Sending relevant follow-ups related to your inquiry (e.g., quote reminders, appointment confirmations)
- Improving the accuracy and quality of our AI responses
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for unrelated purposes, or sale to third parties.
4 Legal Basis — DPDP Act 2023
Swaram operates in compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Our legal basis for processing your personal data is your explicit consent, obtained at the start of every new conversation.
Before processing any conversation data, Swaram's AI assistant presents a clear consent notice explaining what data is collected, why, and how you can withdraw consent. Processing only begins after you respond affirmatively.
You may withdraw consent at any time. See Section 6 for instructions.
5 Data Sharing
Your data is shared only as follows:
- The business you contacted — they see your name, phone number, and conversation summary in their Swaram dashboard, to provide you with service
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — conversation content is processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate AI responses. Anthropic's data processing terms apply
- Meta (WhatsApp) — message delivery is handled via Meta's WhatsApp Business API. Meta's privacy policy applies to message transmission
- Infrastructure providers — Railway (hosting), Cloudflare (CDN/security), used solely for platform operation
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any party not listed above.
6 Your Rights & Data Deletion
Under the DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data. You may exercise these rights at any time.
To delete all your data immediately, reply STOP to any message from a Swaram-powered number. Your contact record, conversation history, and all associated data will be permanently erased within 24 hours.

7 Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as you remain an active contact of the business you engaged with, or until you request deletion (whichever comes first).
- Conversation messages: retained for 12 months from last interaction
- Lead and contact records: retained for 24 months or until deletion request
- Consent records: retained for 36 months (legal compliance requirement)
After the retention period, data is automatically and permanently deleted from our systems.
8 Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
- Webhook payloads are verified using HMAC-SHA256 signatures
- Access to customer data is restricted to authorised business owners only, via JWT-authenticated dashboards
- Database access is protected by row-level security (RLS) policies — businesses can only access their own customers' data
9 Children's Privacy
The Swaram platform is intended for use by adults (18 years and above). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor's data has been collected, contact us at hello@swaram.in and we will delete it immediately.
10 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify users through the business's WhatsApp channel.
Continued use of a Swaram-powered assistant after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
